Air Commodore Ian Scott AM

Ian Scott joined the Royal Australian Air Force in 1968 and enjoyed a long career in flying and in operations for the RAAF and the Australian Defence Force. He has held command at Squadron, Wing and Group levels and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 1996 for his service as Commanding Officer of No 37 Squadron. Ian has also held a number of staff positions culminating in the post as Chief of Staff at Headquarters Air Command, Glenbrook. He transferred to the Air Force Reserve with the rank of Air Commodore in March 2005, and undertakes a range of projects and tasks for Defence in the Reserve.

Ian joined Rotary in 2003 and enjoys the community service and camaraderie of the club. He has served as club president and also district governor. Currently he is the club foundation chair and district Rotary Leadership Institute Coordinator.

Ian has a few ex-service activities and memberships, including the Defence Force Welfare Association (New South Wales), the RAAF Association and 37 Squadron Association. He is president of the Remembrance Driveway Council, looking after the Remembrance Driveway from Sydney to Canberra.

Ian is married to Jennifer and they have two adult daughters and three grandchildren. Hobbies include bushwalking and reading.
