EARLY HISTORY
Schooling in Public School system in a single parent Family.
Won cadetship to attend Sydney University
Was a Scout achieving Queen Scout. Was on the NSW Training Team for Scouts. Later became a Rover Scout at Sydney University followed by training as a Scout leader.
I am married to Carol and have two children Kim a Specialist Surgeon and Mitchell the Director of Knowledge with Water NSW.
Received OAM for community work and many remote area environment projects
BUSINESS HISTORY
Senior Biochemist at Canberra Hospital.
Joined Technicon as a technical sales representative. Rose to become Managing Director.
Head hunted to start Beckman Instruments in Australia. Built it up to $25 million turnover with staff of 70 people in all states. Was transferred to Japan for three years to run Asia Pacific with offices in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. Returned to Australia and continued the job as Asia Pacific Director.
Started another Company (Cytyc Australia) doing automated PAP testing for Asia Pacific with the title of Vice President Asia Pacific, The Company went very well, and was asked to cover Latin America – decided to retire at 55
Since retirement have worked as a Director of Genetic Signatures taking it from a small private Company to an ASX listed Company. Retired last year as a director.
Started new Company (Mind Biosciences) working on brain disease with the first to be MND or Motor Neurone Disease
During my employment in Australia worked on the Establishment of three Bendigo Community Banks.
ROTARY EXPERIENCE
– Joined Rotary North Ryde in 1973
– Was a member of Tokyo South for three Years.
– Rejoined North Ryde 1990. Have held all Board positions including President four times, twice sharing the position. Established Macquarie Park Rotary Club and Macquarie University Rotaract Club.
– RAM (Rotarians against Malaria) chair for three years, ROMAC chair for three years. Assistant Governor for Membership for one year.
– Currently Joint President Upper blue Mountains Rotary Club and the new position of Rotary Community Leader
– Set up five RAWCS projects and have been awarded the Len Arvard Award within RAWCS
– A Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation.
– Completed Mental Health First Aid Training. Certified First Aid Certificate.
